- 8 cups day-old French bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1/2 cup raisins, if desired
- 2 cups milk
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/8 tsp salt
- Whipped cream, if desired
Spray inside of CanCooker with non-stick cooking spray. Place bread and raisins in CanCooker.
In medium bowl, beat milk, eggs, sugar, melted butter, cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg and salt with a whisk. Pour mixture over bread and raisins in the CanCooker. Toss to evenly coat. Let stand for 5 minutes.
Toss again to make sure the bread is evenly coated. Cover and cook on low heat for 12 minutes, stirring frequently. Remove from heat and let stand for 5-10 minutes before serving.
This is an excellent, easy and very tasty dish. Because we live at high altitude; cook time was 20 minutes instead of 12.
